Final Verdict: Which One Should You Choose?
After living with each of these password managers:
1Password is my daily driver. The interface is the best in class, family sharing actually works, and the security is solid. Worth the premium price.
Bitwarden is what I recommend to anyone who asks "what's a good free option?" Open-source, audited, and genuinely free. The paid version is $10/year.
Dashlane is great if you want extra features like VPN and dark web monitoring built-in. Premium price, premium features.
For security purists: Look at Bitwarden (open-source, self-host option) or 1Password (security key support, travel mode).
For families: 1Password Families or Bitwarden Families. Both work well.
Stay away from LastPass until they prove they've fixed their security issues. The 2022-2023 breaches were bad.
